Rates reflect the technical complexity and market positioning of each service area. All rates are benchmarked against the NIH salary cap and BLS occupational wage statistics. Consultant costs are allowable under 2 CFR 200.459.

Engagement Models
Project-Based
Fixed scope, fixed price. Best for defined deliverables like a genome assembly, ML model, or infrastructure setup. We scope the work upfront, agree on milestones and deliverables, and invoice on completion.
Retainer
Monthly hours with priority scheduling and guaranteed 48-hour response time. Best for ongoing bioinformatics support, infrastructure management, or pipeline maintenance. Minimum commitment: 3 months.
Grant Consulting
Letters of commitment and proposal support included at no cost when EdgeConsults is budgeted as a consultant on the funded project. We provide NSF biographical sketches, current & pending support documents, and budget justification language as part of the proposal engagement. Blended rates for funded projects are calculated on a case-by-case basis, taking into account the scope and mix of services required.
